Island Tours and Transfer Services

Frequently Asked Questions

Have you ever missed getting your guests back to the ship on time?
No, never!  It is our top priority to get everyone back to the ship at least one hour prior to departure.

What time do your tours begin?
For cruise ship passengers, all excursions begin half an hour after your ship docks.  If your ship arrives at 8:00, your tour will depart at 8:30; if your ship arrives at 9:00, your tour will depart at 9:30; if your ship arrives at 10:00, your tour will depart at 10:30.

What happens if my ship arrives late?
No Problem!  Spencer Ambrose Tours will be waiting for you at the appointed location.  The tour will depart half an hour from the time your ship disembarks. However, please be aware that a ship delay may limit your number of stops, what sites are seen and how much time is available at each site.

What happens if I show up late for a tour?
Unfortunately, you will miss the tour.  In fairness to other guests, all tours depart promptly at the specified time.

What if I need to cancel my tour?
Sometimes people book a tour and then do not show up.  I understand that plans may change or situations may arise that make it necessary for you to cancel your tour.  Please understand that once your booking is confirmed, a space for you is reserved and the necessary arrangements are made to ensure your tour in St. Lucia runs as smoothly as possible.  Sometimes your guide/driver travels quite a distance only to wait for a "no show" or other arrangements may need to be made if the minimum requirement for a tour can no longer be met.  I do not request a deposit or charge a cancellation fee, so in consideration to all those involved and to keep my rates competitive, I kindly request you contact me if you need to cancel or change your booking.

What is the difference between your West Coast Island Delight Tour and Spencer's Land & Sea Adventure?
By land, Spencer's Land & Sea Adventure offers all the highlights of our popular West Coast Island Delight Tour.  The main difference between these two tours is the return journey and length of time available to spend at Jalousie Beach.  On the West Coast Tour the return journey is by land, whereas the return trip on Spencer's Land & Sea Adventure is by speedboat.  Spencer's Land & Sea Adventure offers guests a coastal sightseeing tour as well as more time at Jalousie Beach.

How many people are in a group?
A group size can range from 8-14 people.  For your traveling comfort, I strive to never fill my vehicles to their full passenger capacity.

Can you accommodate large groups?
Yes, I can make special arrangements to accommodate larger groups. Contact me  for more information.

Do you require a deposit at time of booking?
No.  Full payment is required in US dollars at the end of your tour.

Do you accept credit cards or traveller's checks (cheques) for payment?
Unfortunately, I cannot accept credit cards or traveller's checks/cheques.  Payment is required in US cash.

Can I request a specific guide for my tour?
Although I will try to honor your request, I cannot guarantee which guide will be assigned to your tour.

How long is the drive from the cruise ship terminal in Castries to Jalousie Beach?
Depending on traffic and the number of photo stops we make, the drive can take anywhere from 1 - 1 ½ hours.

Is it possible to skip the volcano and waterfall to spend more time at the beach?
Yes.  I am able to customize your tour so that you can spend additional time at the beach.

If I skip the volcano and waterfall, how much additional time does this allow at the beach?
Depending how long your ship is in port, you could enjoy one additional hour at the beach.

Are there restrooms and a place to change at Jalousie Beach?
Yes, restroom and change facilities are available free of charge at Jalousie Beach.

Do you offer vegetarian meals?
Sorry, I no longer offer vegetarian meals to my guests.  In the past, my vegetarian meal option consisted of rice and peas, salad, yams, yellow plantain and sweet potatoes. However, due to dissastisfaction with this type of meal, I no longer offer this option to my guests.

Is motion sickness a concern on the winding roads in St. Lucia?
In the past, some guests have experienced minor symptoms of motion sickness.  If you are prone to motion sickness, it may be beneficial to take precautionary measures prior to the tour.  Sitting at the front of the van may also help to reduce symptoms of motion sickness.

Are there restroom breaks on the tour?
Yes.  There are numerous opportunities to stop at restroom locations.

Are your vehicles air conditioned?
Yes, for your comfort all my vehicles are air-conditioned.

Is it safe to leave personal items in the van?
Yes, for your security the van is kept locked at all times.

Is there any time for shopping at the end of the tour?
With full day tours, like the West Coast Island Delight, Spencer's Land & Sea Adventure, Jalousie Beach Break or Around-the-Island Adventure, you may enjoy 30 - 45 minutes shopping at the duty free complex located at the pier.  Due to time constraints, guests on these tours are not dropped off in Castries for shopping.  With half day tours, like the Rainforest Sky Tram Ride or Zipline Canopy Adventure, an opportunity for shopping at the Castries market is possible.

I would like to help St. Lucian school children in low-income districts.  What kind of school supplies are most needed?
If you decide you would like to help school children, I will gratefully accept any gifts of school supplies at the beginning of your tour.  Most needed items include exercise notebooks, coloring books, pens and pencils, erasers, markers, colored pencils, crayons, lined paper and new or used fiction novels suitable for 12-14 year olds (ie:  Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Lizzie McGuire, Diary of a Wimpy Kid...).  I will personally collect and distribute your gifts to those schools most in need.  No amount is too small to make a difference!  To see how past donations have benefited St. Lucian school children, visit my Links page.
